I'm sitting in Starbucks with my sweet hubby of 27 years jabbering away about how I would love to find a dairy alternative that actually tastes good, something I'm sure he cares nothing about, when he interrupts my long list of things I've tried and said, "You should start a blog!" Either I've worn him out with my curiosity about, well, everything, or he really thinks someone in the world may care about what I care about.
What do I care about? My family, my health, my finances and relationships. I'm tired of being poisoned and lied to by anyone trying to make a buck. I love digging into a subject and finding the real truth, why not do it with the rest of the world?
Not too long ago you could stay healthy almost by accident, just avoid a handful of evils or at least limit them and your golden. Now days, you have to worry about getting cancer from genetically modified popcorn at the movie theater drenched in chemicals and oil that makes birds die and cows go bald. We live in a time where a one vegetable snack which used to be healthy will now make you sick. What has happened?
I love those blogs out there where moms and their kids grow their own food, post recipes and love the simplicity of a life well planned. I on the other hand am now an empty nester. I had five children and two dogs running around our half acre in Idaho, gardens, fruit trees, chickens the whole works. That was a lot of fun and a ton of work. I wake up now and want to go get coffee and study some things I've always been interested in but never had the time. I care about having nice nails and hair, but, I would love to find ways to have these things without filling my 47 year old body with solvents and chemicals. What did women wash their hair with in the dark ages anyway?? Last week was my hair experiment with eggs and a natural soap that left my hair feeling like a pile of dry spaghetti noodles left in a colander overnight. Three shampoos later, I've used more chemicals than normal! Ugh.
